South Cotabato village councilwoman shot dead

KORONADAL CITY -- A village councilwoman was shot dead by still unidentified gunmen while she was tending to her farm in Sitio Benigno Aquino, Barangay Miasong, Tupi, South Cotabato Monday morning.The Tupi PNP identified the victim as Anie Maramba, 46, farmer and village councilor.Police investigation showed the victim and her husband Ronnie, were clearing separately a hilly portion of their farm when they both heard gun shots. The victim shouted to her husband that they were ambushed, prompting Ronnie to drop and sought cover, the Tupi PNP said in its report.The couple's son, Jessar, a militiaman stationed nearby arrived with his companions but the attackers had already fled.The village official sustained gunshot wounds on her breast and died on the spot.Investigation continues.
