Sultan Kudarat farmer injured during police Oplan Double Barrel

KORONADAL CITY -- Police authorities in Sen. Ninoy Aquino (SNA) town in Sultan Kudarat arrested Monday two siblings wanted for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.In his report to Senior Supt. Raul Supiter, Sultan Kudarat police provincial director,Senior Inspector Kristian Ace Sularte, SNA town police chief, identified the suspects as Steve Kansingan, 24 and his brother Obal Kansingan, 27, farmers and resident of Barangay Lagubang.Sularte said the two were arrested based on an arrest warrant issued byJudge Renato Gleyo of Regional Trial Court Branch19.Sularte said during the implementation of arrest warrants, one of the suspects traded shots with arresting team using his 12 gauge shot gun. In the process, Steve Kansingan was injured in his leg and was rushed to the hospital while his brother was brought to police station lock-up cell.Sularte said arresting team, composed of SNA police and 38th Infantry Battalion troopers, failed to recover the shot gun used by Steve after he threw it into a river.Despite massive search, the shot gun was not recovered due to strong water current.Seized from the two were two sachets of dried marijuana and three shot gun bullets.
