Suspects in Isulan shabu smuggling attempt charged
SULTAN KUDARAT --- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has filed criminal cases against five suspects who tried to smuggle into Isulan town P680,000 worth of shabu last week.
In a statement Monday, the regional office of PDEA-12 said the detained Noraida Sabang, Namraida Sengkong Mama, Aisa Nasser Baldido, Abdul Zainudin and Anwar Kasim have been charged with violation of the Philippine Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
They were together on a heavily-tinted van, bringing with them P680,000 worth of shabu, when they were intercepted by combined PDEA-12 agents and personnel of the local police and the Sultan Kudarat provincial police office in Barangay Kalawag III in Isulan.
The PDEA-12, said the suspects belong to the Ameril drug ring operating in Cotabato City and in the adjoining Maguindanao, North Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat provinces.
Vigilant residents of Sultan Kudarat province privy to their drug-trafficking activities provided information that led to their arrest, according to PDEA-12.
