Suspects in murder of radio commentator charged
KIDAPAWAN CITY --- The city police has filed charges against three suspects, two of them broadcasters, for the July 10 murder here of radio commentator Eduardo Dizon.
Dizon was killed in an ambush by men on motorcycles while on his way home after a nighttime radio program in a Brigada FM station in the city.
Local reporters, among them friends of the two radiomen implicated in the atrocity, said Wednesday the spokesman of the North Cotabato provincial police, Lt. Col. Bernard Tayong, confirmed on Wednesday that cases had indeed been filed against the suspects in the murder of Dizon.
Dizon was critical of the operation of the controversial Kapa money market scheme.
He died from five bullet wounds he sustained in the ambush that resulted in his death.
A radio blocktimer endorsing Kapa had threatened him on air and challenged him to a gun duel for his commentaries.
Tayong declined to identify the suspects saying it is up to the City Prosecutor’s Office to reveal their identities.
Radio reporters, citing sources at the CPO, said two of the suspects were broadcasters who are also staunch promoters of Kapa.
President Rodrigo Duterte shut all Kapa outlets last month for alleged violation of regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Anti-Money Laundering Council.
