Truck helper dies, driver hurt in So. Cotabato highway mishap

TUPI, South Cotabato - A truck helper was killed while a driver of trailer truck was hurt after the heavy vehicle went wayward along the national highway here Wednesday afternoon.From Gen. Santos City, the International Truck which as 16-wheels was heading to Koronadal City and driven by Renaldo Borromeo, 39 of Barangay Concepcion, Koronadal City.Borromeo noticed that the brake system of the trailer truck malfunctioned and before he could notice it the vehicle was already beside the highway, still speeding.His helper, Nemesio Porlucas, 24, also of Korondal City, was caught unaware of what was happening. Seeing the truck in an unusual situation, he jumped off the vehicle too. Unfortunately, Porlucas was ran-over by vehicles several huge wheels. He died on the spot while Borromeo was rescued and rushed to the hospital by elements of the South Cotabato police unit which happened to pass by the accident site.
