Two Cotabato City teachers killed in gun attack
COTABATO CITY --- Two public school teachers were killed while another was badly hurt in an ambush at about 4and00 p.m. Tuesday in a secluded barangay southeast of the city.
The fatalities, Fahara Kabuntalan La, 29, and Sittie Usop Abdullah, 31, died in the attack, which left their co-teacher, Aisah Karon Malugka, 34, badly wounded.A 21-year-old tricycle driver, Fahad Abdulwahid Abdullah, was also hurt in the shooting frenzy.
The victims were on board the tricycle Abdullah was driving when they were attacked by two men with .45 caliber pistols while at Purok Talainged in Barangay Tamontaka 1 in Cotabato City.The suspects, whose faces were covered with ski masks, immediately escaped using a red motorcycle.Johnny Balawag, administrative officer of the public city schools division, condemned the atrocity and called on the local police to identify the culprits.
These teachers do not have known enemies,” Balawag said.Chief Inspector Rustom Pastolero of the city’s Police Precinct III, which has jurisdiction over Barangay Tamontaka 1, had told a popular radio outfit here, Catholic station dxMS, probers will do their best to put closure to the bloody incident.Text messages have been circulating since late Tuesday purporting that the target of the ambushers was Abdullah, who has been driving a tricycle for more than three years now as main source of income.The wounded Abdullah is now undergoing medication at a hospital.
