UPDATEand Anti-drug Islamic preacher shot dead in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY- A muslim religious leader and an active police partner in the campaign against illegal drugs was shot dead before noon today by still unidentified gunmen, police said.In a flash report by DXMS Radyo Bida, the victim was identified as Ustadz Ronnie Solaiman, a resident of Interior Mabini, Barangay Bagua 3, Cotabato City.Chief Inspector Tirso Pascual, police station 1 head, said Solaiman was driving a red Yamaha motorbike heading for home at about 11 a.m. when the gunman appeared from behind and shot him in the head.He died on the spot. Motive of the attack remained unknown as of posting.Solaiman was a former host of Muslim radio program over DXMS Radyo Bida.Pascual said Solaiman has been helping the police in the campaign against illegal drugs in his community, Mabini Street, Barangay Bagua 3, a known residential area where shabu proliferates.Investigation continues.
