Water pump worker in S. Cotabato dies of electrocution

BANGA, South Cotabato - A construction worker was killed while three of his companions were injured due to electrocution after the tube they used in putting up water pump hit a transmission line Tuesday.Killed was Carmelo Sampiano, 39, was pronounced dead on arrival at the South Cotabato provincial hospital in Koronadal City.Injured were Richie Sanchez, 41, Roger Ribete, 17 and Daniel Sampiano, 43, all residents of Barangay San Vicente, Banga, South Cotabato.Sanchez told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida in a flash report that they were putting up a water pump, locally known as pozo at past 2 p.m. They were holding up parallel a tube to be ejected on the ground when it accidentally hit the power transmission line.Witnesses said the slain worker absorbed the power during the accident while others were thrown off.
