SOUTH UPI, Maguindanao – Indigenous Peoples
and settlers here witnessed a first” beauty pageant that featured pregnant
mothers as they showcased beauty while preggy.
We would like to showcase the beauty and talent of our
pregnant mothers and how they maintain beautiful faces and body, thus we have
this search,” Rebecca Tenorio, public health nurse of South Upi, said of the first
Reyna ng mga Buntis 2015.”
The mothers representing 11 villages acted showed
what they’ve got during the town’s 39th founding anniversary
Tuesday.
They acted like they were never pregnant, they
danced like they carry no babies in their wombs,” Tenorio said of the mothers beaming
in maternity dresses. A sports attire competition was also included in the
show.
One contestant performed a modern dance number during talent showwhile another highlighted her tribal communities by performing a
tribal dance.
Tenorio said the event was part of the Buntis
Congress” of the municipal health office which aims to show that pregnancy is a
symbol of beauty and should be showcased to show a healthy pregnant mother.
Since September is Peace Month,” a Tri-Puso walk
was held earlier with Muslims, Christians and IPs participating from three
different directions and converged at the town center.
A prayer for peace followed to maintain the
prevailing peace co-existence among tri-peoples.
A Fried Chicken mascot was present to entertain
young children who, since birth, have not seen a mascot of popular food chain.
Free school bags were distributed to children as
