Pope Francis names Bishop Bagaforo as Kidpawan bishop

COTABATO CITY -Pope Francis has appointed Cotabato Auxiliary Bishop Jose Colin MendozaBagaforo as the new bishop of the Diocese of Kidapawan, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) today said.The announcement was made today, July 25, 2016, at 6 p.m.Bagaforo, most popularly known as Bishop Colin, has been serving the auxiliary bishop ofarchdiocese of Cotabato since hisEpiscopal ordination in 2006. Ordained a priest on March 25,1980, he was born in Cotabato City on January 30, 1954.The Diocese of Kidapawan was left without a bishop since March 2014 when Bishop Romulo de la Cruz was appointed Archbishop of Zamboanga.The date of his installation as bishop of Kidapawan will be announced later.Bishop Colin finished his elementary at P. C. Hill Elementary School, Cotabato City in 1966 and joined the Cotabato Archdiocesan Seminary in 1967 at the same time studied Philosophy at Notre Dame University,. also in Cotabato City.In 1980, he finished his Theology studies atSt. Francis Xavier Regional Major Seminary, Davao City and took M. A. in Educational Management, Xavier University, graduating in1995.His foreign studies include a Sabbatical Studies in Systematic Theology, Weston School of Theology and National Jesuit School, Cambridge, Boston, Massachusetts His ministries include parish priest in various parishes of the archdiocese of Cotabato, archdiocesan finance officer and president of a Church-run college in Tacurong City.
