CARMEN, North
Cotabato -– True to its earlier commitment, the Moro Islamic Liberation
Front (MILF) made good its promise to help eradication drug addiction in areas
where it operates.

In a statement
on Saturday, the MILF Easter Mindanao Command said its forces raided three
marijuana plantations in Sitio Sinipitan, Barangay Tupig, Carmen, North
Cotabato.

But the
plantation owners were nowhere to be found as the area was isolated from
communities.

About 100 MILF
fighters uprooted hundreds of marijuana plants then set it on fire. The use of
marijuana is haram” (forbidden) in Islam.

The MILF said
the operation commenced Friday and continued Saturday morning.

We will
continue this campaign, this is haram and to show our commitment to help the
government,” the MILF said in a statement. (Ferdinandh Cabrera)
