10 agri-extension workers P20K richer

KIDAPAWAN CITY(Sept. 15/NDBC) - Eight agricultural extension workers (AEWs) from Alamada and
one each from Carmen and Midsayap, North Cotabato, will be P20,000 richer next
month after they were chosen as recipients of the Department of Agriculture
(DA)- National Quality Corn Achievers Awards (NQCAA), a DA official announced
today.

For being
innovative and productive, DA will award 10 AEWs from North Cotabato during the
National Quality Corn Achievers Awards (NQCAA) in Cagayan de Oro City on
October 22.

The warding
ceremonies will be at Limketkai Hotel during the side event of the 4-day 10th
Philippine National Corn Congress, a statement issued by North Cotabato governor's office said.Amalia
Jayag-Datukan, DA-12 regional director, said the 10 AEWs from the province are
among the other farm achievers in the country to be honored.

In her letter
to North Cotabato Gov. Emmylou Mendoza, Datukan identified the achievers as
Danilo A. Puno, Ellafe U. Lopez, Jocelyn Z. Ragunton, Liliy Flor M. Balos,
Maria Eden B. Barredo, Rolando A. Erese, Shiela Marie M. Asinas, Henie D. Pusta,
all from Alamada town Elizabeth V. Salao of Carmen and Delina F. Abellanida of
Midsayap, North Cotabato,

All of them
will receive P20,000 each and certificates from DA-national.

Datukan said
the awardees deserved the award after they produced corn through unique and
innovative farming which resulted in higher productivity. They were chosen by
the National Steering Committee created through DA Special Order No. 770.

Their awards
have added to the growing recognition the province had been getting from DA
because of the farmers’ productivity and performance.

Mendoza lauded
the awardees and attributed the successive feats of farmers to the successful
implementation of the provincial government’s agriculture programs through the
Office of the Provincial Agriculturists (OPAG) headed by Engr. Eliseo M.
Mangliwan. (NDBC)
