GEN. SANTOS CITY -- The Regional Public
Safety Battalion 12 was conferred with the title of Best Regional Public
Safety Battalion in the recent concluded 116th Police service anniversary rites
and awarding of PNP units and personnel for outstanding achievements in the
police service.

The awarding was in Camp Crame Quezon
City last Wednesday.

Supt. Romeo Galgo Jr, speaking for
police in Region 12, said President Duterte, assisted by the Department of
Interior and Local Government (DILG) Officer-In-Charge Catalino S. Cuy and PNP
Chief, Police Director General Ronald M Dela Rosa, presented the award to Senior
Supt. Michael Lebanan, currently the battalion commander of RPSB-12.

Choosing the best PNP unit is done
annually through annual validation conducted by personnel from Camp Crame. This
year’s award was for 2016’s accomplishments.

Among
the criteria included during validation were the units’ capability (SWAT, SAR,
EOD, CDM), Document Audit, Scenario (hostage, hot pursue, Internal Security
Operations)

From 2016 to date, two battalion commanders
with 524 strong policemen of RPSB12, Senior Supt. Rolly Octavio and Senior
Supt. Romeo Berango, major accomplishments were achieved in Region 12 as the
advent of change took place.

The
RPSB was recognized for its role in President Duterte’s campaign against
illegal drugs and lawless elements.

Drug
personalities, including high profile targets and high-value targets, were
arrested, some were killed during legitimate law enforcement operations.

Among the RPSB-12
accomplishments was the death of Mohammad Jaafar Sabiwang Maguid a.k.a Tokboy
Magid, Tikboy Maguid, Madz, the most wanted person in Sarangani province and
the arrest of his three cohorts.

Senior Inspector Jessie Silva, RPSB-12
spokesperson, said the unit complied with all the requirements in accordance
with the Performance Governance System (PGS).

Vying for the best title is really
tough among competitors and having got all what it took for us in the RPSB12 to
be awarded BEST, is considerably a hard earned accomplishment, Silva said.

Indeed, a worth-to-keep memento. This
serves as a motivating factor in uplifting our morale and for us to maintain
what we had started and certainly to make our constituents proud. We will
defend this title. We do not forget those fallen comrades who were also became
one in fighting criminalities and whose lives were sacrificed in the name
of the serving our country, and this
Award is for them, Silva said.

We thank Chief Supt. Cedrick Train,
PRO-12 regional director, for capability build up and for the support extended so that we can
perform our mandate efficiently and effectively, Silva added.
