Local college rules Midsayap’s Halad Festival street dancing
MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato -- Students from Saint Jude College of Science and Technology of Midsayap ruled the open category of Halad sa Sto. Niño Festival street dancing competition on Saturday.People who witnessed this year’s edition of the event were awed by performances from contingents coming from as far as Sultan Kudarat in Maguindanao and Koronadal, South Cotabato.Saint Jude College delegation was also last year’s champion in North Cotabato’s Kalibongan Festival street dancing competition.SJCST president Elmer Rehis said they did not expect to emerge champions as they started practicing late due to conflicts in the class schedules of their participants.Rehis thanked the school’s faculty, cheerers and supporters for believing and trusting in them.Midsayap Mayor Romeo Araña said this year’s champion in the open category will be set to Intramuros to represent the municipality in the annual Aliwan Festival organized by the Department of Tourism (DOT).First runner-up honors went to Tribu Kadtobali of Saravia National High School, Koronadal City while Salam Youth Organization of Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao was second runner-up. Special awards were also given for Best in Street Dancing (Saravia National High School), Best in Costume (Saravia National High School) and Best in Music (SJCST). (Kaye Gumapac/NDU BAComm3)
