ARMM police scores well in campaign versus illegal drugs

MAGUINDANAO --- Three large-scale drug traffickers were killed while 217 others were arrested in a series of police operations in five southern provinces in the past four months.Chief Superintendent Graciano Mijares of the Police Regional Office-Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao said Friday 154 drug dependents in different ARMM towns also surrendered and promised to reform during the period.The ARMM covers Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur, which are both in mainland Mindanao, and the islands of Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi.Mijares, citing reports from the provincial police offices in the five ARMM provinces, said three uncooperative dealers of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) were killed in separate police operations from October 11, 2017 to March 1, 2018.Mijares said the 154 ARMM residents hooked to shabu surrendered through the intercession of local government units.
