More humanitarian support extended to tremor victims

NORTH COTABATO --- Benefactors from the southern part of Central Mindanao transported Wednesday more relief supplies to earthquake-stricken towns in this province.
The Army’s 6th Infantry Division delivered to North Cotabato more than a thousand gallons of purified water and tarpaulins that evacuees can use as roofing for makeshift shelters.
The Bangsamoro regional government delivered again Wednesday a truckload of relief goods to Kidapawan City, capital of North Cotabato, to complement the relief operations of the provincial government.
Major Gen. Diosdado Carreon, commander of 6th ID, said a number of their vehicles have also been dispatched to North Cotabato to help transport to evacuations sites villagers whose houses in remote barangays were destroyed by earthquakes.
The provincial government of Lanao del Sur had set up an outdoor clinic in Makilala town to attend to the needs of sick evacuees.
The team sent by Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. to North Cotabato, comprised of physicians, nurses and emergency responders, was the first to treat more than 30 evacuees in Makilala who got sick after eating staled food distributed by benefactors.
The victims vomited and complained of painful abdominal spasms after eating packed meals supplied by a group that initiated an outreach mission in an evacuation site.
The food rations consisted of rice and pork viand, according to emergency responders who brought them to the makeshift clinic manned by health personnel from the Lanao del Sur provincial government.
