KIDAPAWAN CITY --- The Kidapawan City council on Monday approved the mayor’s plan to avail of a P100 million bank loan for the rehabilitation of earthquake-stricken constituent-communities.

Williamor Magbanua, city information officer, said Tuesday members of the Sangguniang Panglunsod unanimously gave Mayor Joseph Evangelista their imprimatur for his office to proceed with the local government unit’s application for a bank loan to sustain its relief and rehabilitation efforts for thousands of residents displaced by tremors in the past four weeks.

The earthquakes that jolted Kidapawan City destroyed many structures, including school buildings and houses of villagers in far-flung barangays.

Thousands of Kidapawan City residents got dislocated by the strong episodes of tremors that began with a 6.3 foreshock on October 16, followed by more than 2,000 aftershocks since.

The Kidapawan City SP also indicated in its resolution that permitted Evangelista to apply for bank loan the creation of an interim group to study possible socio-economic interventions that can help hasten the recovery of villagers from devastation.
