SULTAN KUDARAT -- Soldiers defused an improvised explosive device and seized firearms and ammunition in separate operations in Barangay Bagumbayan in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat Thursday.
Servicemen of the Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion under the 601st Infantry Brigade first deactivated an IED that passersby found along a farm route in Barangay Bagumbayan.
Another team from 40th IB confiscated a homemade M79 launcher for 40 millimeter grenade projectiles, a bolt-action caliber .22 hunting rifle, a .45 caliber pistol and assorted ammunition hidden under thick grasses not too far away from the spot where the IED was found.
