Pikit floods start to recede

KIDAPAWAN CITY (Sept.
4/NDBC) – After four days of floods, the water level in at least 19 villages
of Pikit, North Cotabato have receded, disaster officials said.

Tahira Kalantungan,
Pikit Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), said
the four days of torrential rains submerged 19 low lying villages of Pikit
after the Kabacan River and Malitubog-Maridagao rivers overflowed.

Budol-budol gang strikes, victimizes retired teacher, trader

KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 4/NDBC) – A retired teacher and a businessman lost more than P20,000
cash to unidentified men who duped them in Kidapawan City on separate occasions
Tuesday, police record said.

Two women and
a man approached 68-year-old Prescilla Daroy of Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City
while she was at the town center.

The two women,
she told police, appeared to have known her and the people close to her when
they started talking.

Suddenly, a
man arrived and joined the conversation.

Kidapawan City rounding up suspected drug pushers, users

KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 4/NDBC) – A suspected drug pusher is now languishing in jail after he
was arrested in a buy bust operation by joint operatives of the police and
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Kidapawan City Tuesday afternoon,
authorities said.

The suspect,Simlar Gaos
Emam, alias Datu, resident of Sitio Pinantao, Barnagay Sudapen, Kidapawan City
was arrested during a drug buy bust operation at about 2 p.m.

He did not
resist arrest.

Husbandand Killing of wife, son, case of mistaken identity

COTABATO CITY
(Sept. 3/NDBC) – The killing Tuesday of a family of three in this city’s west
coast could be a case of mistaken identity, the victims’ relatives said.

Relatives of
Saimona Abdulla Dimatingkal, 42, her 4-year-old son Saada, all residents of
Timako, Kalanganan 2, Cotabato City believed they were mistakenly executed by
the suspects locked in a rido” (family feud) with another family in the same
village.

Koronadal City officials join ice bucket challenge

KORONADAL
CITY, (Sept. 3/NDBC) -- City Administrator Cyrus Urbano and City Councilor
Oscar Pagunsan of Koronadal City joined the bandwagon and performed the ALS ice
bucket challenge in front of the city hall Tuesday.

Urbano and
Pagunsan responded to Koronadal City Mayor Peter Miguel’ challenge after the
chief executive performed one on Monday.l

Hataman leads ARMM employees in clean up drive

COTABATO CITY (Sept.
3/NDBC) – Regional Governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (ARMM) on Tuesday led all ARMM officials and employees in the region’s
5S Good Housekeeping Program” as it kicks off with a big clean-up day at the
regional compound here.
With no
exemption, all agencies participated with its employees armed with broom, dust
pan, small bolo and anything that helped them pick-up garbage and mess around
the 10-hectare ARMM compound.

Mayor tells police to solve robbery, thief cases

(Sept. 2/NDBC) – Alarmed by the rising cases of robbery-hold up in the city,
Mayor Joseph Evangelista has ordered the city police office to dig deeper,
identify the men behind it, arrest them and file appropriate charges.

Evangelista
told DXND Radyo Bida-Kidapawan that the police had initial information on the
group or groups behind the series of robbery hold-up but the suspects remained
at large.

Makilala pupil loses battle 6 days after highway mishap

MAKILALA,
North Cotabato (Sept.2/NDBC) – A week after he was hit by a speeding car in
front of his school, an elementary pupil here succumbed to serious and
complicated injuries.

Geo Flores,
pupil of Malasila Elementary School in Barnagay Malasila, Makilala, North
Cotabato, passed away 6 p.m. Monday afternoon, his family said.

Melecio
Lambac, the boy’s uncle, said the boy expired while fighting for his life at
the Intensive Care Unit of the Southern Philippine Medical Center in Davao City.
