Army considers Matalam villagers' request

KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 12/NDBC) – Army authorities are considering the request of villagers in
Matalam, North Cotabato for the establishment of an Army detachment.

Lt. Jose Carlos
Gamos, chief Charlie Company of the 7th Infantry Battalion, said the
desire of residents of Barangay Estado, Matalam, North Cotabato was valid and
being considered.

Residents have
sought Army presence in the village after armed men traded bullets last Sunday
that disrupted the quite farming community.

Kidapawan mayor suspends classes after flash floods

KIDAPAWAN CITY (Sept. 12/NDBC) -- Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista today suspended classes in all levels in the city following flash floods that displaced families in at least eight villages.Speaking over DXND-Radyo Bida Kidapawan, Evangelista said the suspension will help ensure the safety of pupils and the general public in the city which sits at the foot of the country's highest peak - Mt. Apo.

Kidapawan flash floods affect 270 families

KIDAPAWAN CITY
(Sept. 12/NDBC) – About 270 families were affected by extra quick flash floods
that hit eight villages here Thursday night following an hour long heavy
downpour.

Nuangan river
overflowed and inundated all the villages on its path,” Psalmer Bernalte, city
chief of disaster risk reduction management council told DXND Radyo Bida
Kidapawan.

He said the
rainfall was unusual that the city Call 911, Kidapawan City’s emergency response

KIDAPAWAN CITY (Sept. 11/NDBC) -- An hour long heavy down pour flooded houses near rivers and creeks here Thursday night.Among the flooded areas was the staff house and vicinity of Radio Station DXND following heavy downpour that started at about9 p.m.Hospital beds, oxygen tanks, garbage, cellophaneand other debris litter the rear portion of DXND compound.Rains have slowed down and the water along a creek have receded, DXND reported.Reports have it that other low lying areas and houses near rivers and creeks also experienced flash floods.
