COTABATO CITY - Total blackout hits the franchise area of Cotabato Light and Power Company, including part of North Cotabato and Maguindanao after one of the transmission towers of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) was toppled in Pagangan, Aleosan.NGCP Steel Tower No. 68 was bombed, using improvised explosive device,by still unidentified men, Aleosan Mayor Vicente Sorupia Jr said.He said residents in Barangay Pagangan heard loud explosions at about 9:20 p.m.

Palace denies P1.5-B offer to lawmakers for BBL passage

MANILA -– Malacanang on Thursday denied reports that President Benigno Aquino III has offered Php1.5 billion worth of projects to congressmen in exchange of the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).The offer was allegedly made to the 150 congressmen who attended a luncheon meeting in Malacanang last Tuesday.According to the reports, the solons have declined the offer and instead asked a whopping P20 million in cash for every congressman who will vote for the BBL passage.”That allegation is not true,” Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr.

Village exec blames MILF in Tulunan attack

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Village officials in Tulunan, North Cotabato blamed fighters of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) for the attack on Tuesday that left six people dead, three of them were Ilonggo farmers. According to Chairman Satorre of Barangay Maybula in Tulunan, the attackers were supporters and sympathizers of the 109thbase command of the MILF stationed in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat.He even named the commander as a certain Commander Abbas. But the MILF central leadership, reports said, did not sanction the attack.

6 die when armed men clash in North Cotabato-Sultan Kudarat borders

KIDAPAWAN CITY -At least six people were killed when two armedarmed group clashed in the boundaryofTulunan, North Cotabato and Colombio in Sultan Kudarat on Tuesday morning, police said.Senior Inspector Ronnie Dillera, Tulunan chief of police, said the clash happened in Sitio Saban, Barangay Maybula, when about 30 armed menattacked a group oftilling their farms at about11:00 a.m. Dillera said the firefight between the two group lasted for 3 hours which resulted to the death of three farmers.

Maguindanao man kills grandson mistaken as tiyanak”

PARANG, Maguindanao – A 42-year-old man killed his 4-year-old grandson after he mistaken the child as tiyanak” on Sunday night while the town was experiencing power outages, police and suspect said.
A tiyanak” is a vampiric creature in Philippine mythology that imitates the form of a child.
The suspect, Orak Mantawil, was in total disbelief when interrogated at Parang Police Station. Full of remorse, he sought forgiveness from the child’s parents and his relatives.
