More than 20 houses, establishments destroyed by Datu Piang fire

DATU PIANG, Maguindanao - More than 20 houses and business establishments were razed to the ground in a fire that hit Barangay Poblacion,Datu Piang, Maguindanao, fire officials said.Fire Supt. Adam Guiamad, regional director forBureu of Fire Protection in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), told DXMS Radyo Bida the fire was believed triggered by an unattended electrical appliances which exploded when power was restored following a brownout. The fire started at the house of a certain Datu Tiu Piang, Guiamad said.He said the fire which started at about 9:30 p.m.

Army, PNP deployed in Lutayan after armed clashes

KORONADAL CITY --- Territorial dispute triggered a four hour clash involving a group of Moro rebels and village officials in Lutayan, Sultan Kudarat, an Army official today said.Colonel Melquiades Feliciano, 602nd Army Brigade chief, told DXOM-AM Radyo Bida thata long standing land dispute between the group of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Commander Falcon and Commander Pige.Both claimed a parcel of lands in the borders of Barangay Byasong and Simsiman, all in Lutayan town.

No travel fund, 300 police recruits told to stay put in PNP-ARMM

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao - Police recruits from the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO)who underwent police training at the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PNP-ARMM) regional training center here have completed the training course but could not return to NCR as of yet.The reasonand No directive yet from NCR Police Office when they can fly back to Manila, according to Senior Insp. Ronald de Leon, PNP-ARMM spokesperson.De Leon said the training was completed on August 25 but the recruits, about 300 of them, remained in the camp awaiting order from NCR Police Office.

North Cotabato village council member shot dead

KIDAPAWAN CITY -Unidentified gunmen shot dead a village councilor in President Roxas, minutes after holding an amateur contest in his barangay, around 11 p.m., Monday, a police officer said. Chief Inspector Romy Castanares, chief of the President Roxas municipal police station, identified the victim as Wendell Gaseta, kagawad of Barangay Ilustre and chair of the Barangay Committee on Peace and Order. Gaseta was on his way home after the barangay singing competition when gunmen, allegedly positioned on a higher ground, shot him twice on his head and other parts of his body.

PNP intensifies drive vs. illegal drugs in 3 Mindanao provinces

COTABATO CITY– Police and
anti-narcotics agents have neutralized over the weekend several personalities
engaged in illegal drug trade as the campaign against prohibited substance have
been intensified in three provinces in Mindanao.

In Tampakan, South Cotabato, police arrested a
suspected shabu pusher after a drug buy bust operation, according to Senior

PDEA-12 agents arrest man, lover in shabu deal in Koronadal beer house

KORONADAL CITY – A man and his sweetheart were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) here at midnight Tuesday following a buy bust operation.Arrested were John Noven Alvares and Darlene Cabrera who were drinking and enjoying the night inside a beer joint along Gen. Santos Drive, Barangay Zone 1, Koronadal City.An anti-narcotics agent posed as buyer of methamphetamine hydrochloride, more known as shabu, from the couple. After the deal, agents arrested them and seized heat sealed shabu, marked money and mobile phones.

Tacurong highway mishap death toll rose to 9

TACURONG CITY – The death toll in the highway accident here involving
a passenger multicab and hauler truck Sunday rose to 9 with the death of
another passenger in the hospital, police here said.

The latest fatality was Queenie Yalong who expired while being
transported to Gen. Santos City. Her daughter Angel was among those who died on
the spot.

Bihon downs 128 in S. Cotabato upland village

CITY – At least 128 persons were rushed to the Lake Sebu Emergency Hospital in
Lake Sebu, South Cotabato yesterday after eating what local officials believed
was spoiled noodles at a religious gathering.

Mayor Antonio Fungan the victims were all residents Barangay Takunel who celebrated the foundation anniversary of a local sect known as Salvaton Army. Fungan said
the victims almost simultaneously complained of stomach pain, vomited and loose
bowel movement.
