Suspects in shooting of Rasalan arrested, charged

COTABATO CITY – Police announced here
today the arrest and filing of charges against two men believed to be behind
the frustrated murder of Aniceto Rasalan last week.

Senior Supt. Rex Anongos, Cotabato City police
chief, said Nasser Diocolano of Barangay Marquez, Datu Odin Sinsuat,
Maguindanao was arrested an hour after Rasalan was shot and seriously wounded
along Sinsuat Avenue, Cotabato City on July 22.

Cotabato City Comelec reminds voters on biometrics

COTABATO CITY- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) here reminded anew registered voters that they cannot vote in any Philippine elections unless they have biometric records with the poll body.Speaking over DXMS Radyo BidaLawyer Michael Ignes, city election officer, said about 20,000 registered voters have no biometric records and this simply means they cannot vote come election time.Some of them have been delisted or remove from the official voters's list of the Comelec, he added.

ARMM holds successful earthquake, tsunami drill in Maguindanao

1976 magnitude 7.9 Earthquake reminisced today in the mind of a 50 year old
wife of a fisherman here when government agencies conducted simulation of the
calamity culminating the National Disaster Consciousness Month.

Norhaiya Untong was 8 years old and in
Grade 2 when she was awakened by the August 17, 1976 earthquake, that to her

Davao Light imposes four-hour power cut off

DAVAO CITY (PNA) -- Davao Light and Power Co.(DLPC) started Thursday imposing a maximum of three to four hours of rotating power interruptions in this city and franchise areas in Davao del Norte.This developed after the Therma South Inc. (TSI) coal plant shut down for an unscheduled repair. The TSI coal plant is still under commissioning stage.Davao Light gets 60 megawatts from TSI to mitigate the power deficit for the past weeks. With 60MW lost, that would mean four hours of blackout, DLPC Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Arturo Milan said.
