Soldier dead, 2 hurt in BIFF attack; IEDs found along highway

COTABATO CITY - A soldier was killed while two others were wounded when local terrorists fired at an Army team out on a humanitarian mission in Datu Hoffer, Maguindanao del Sur late Friday.

Major Gen. Roy Galido, commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division, and Brig. Gen. John Guyguyon of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region on Saturday separately condemned the atrocity, perpetrated by the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF).

Slain NPA official had 39 cases pending in courts

COTABATO CITY --- A leader of the New People’s Army wanted for 39 high-profile criminal cases was killed in a brief shootout with soldiers in Sultan Kudarat province Monday. 

Col. Michael Santos, commander of the Army’s 603rd Infantry Brigade, said Tuesday Emmanuel Fernandez died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds. 

3 CAFGU members killed in Pikit ambush

PIKIT, Noth Cotabato  – Three militiamen were slain Sunday morning in latest gun attack in this troubled town.

Mayor Sumulong Sultan of Pikit confirmed the attack and ordered Lt. Colonel John Miridel Calinga, town police chiefm to identify the attackers and bring them before the bar of justice.

“The police are hunting down the suspects,” Mayor Sultan said the vernacular in a radio interview of the ambush in Barangay Manaulanan but refused to provide further details.

NGCP tower bombed, sends Zambo peninsula into darkness, suspected bomber slain

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Power service had been cut in the entire Zamboanga Peninsula and two other provinces after two powerful explosions toppled a transmission line tower of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in Lanao del Norte.

Elizabeth Ladaga, NGCP public affairs officer for Western Mindanao, said Tuesday that the bombing knocked down Tower Number 8 of the Baloi-Aurora 138-kilovolts (KV) transmission line around 4:50 p.m. Monday in Sitio San Isidro, Barangay Bagumbayan, Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte.

2 Moro leaders killed in gun attacks

COTABATO CITY - Two Moro leaders, a municipal councilor and a senior Moro National Liberation Front official, were killed in separate attacks in two adjoining towns in just 17 hours.

The municipal police office, headed by station chief Lt. Nurjhasier Sali, has launched manhunt against the suspect who shot dead with Mubarak Abubakar, a member of the Sangguniang Bayan in Montawal, Maguindanao, while buying smoked fish along a stretch of a highway at noontime Monday.

MNLF commander slain in North Cotabato gun attack

COTABATO CITY - KINILALA ANG biktima na si Datu Jordan Tayuan na taga Purok Uno, Barangay Bual Sur, Midsayap.

Sinabi sa Radyo Bida ni Midsayap town police chief Lt. Col. Rolly Oranza na naganap ang pamamaril pasado alas 5:00 ng hapon kahapon.

Dagdag pa nito na nanonood ng TV sa loob ng kanyang bahay ang biktima nang siya ay pasukin ng mga suspect at pinagbabaril.

Patay on the spot ang biktima.

Narekober sa crime scene ang apat na basyo ng caliber 45 pistol at anim na basyo ng caliber 5.56mm.          

Soldier killed, companion hurt in latest BIFF attack

COTABATO CITY - An army corporal was killed while another was hurt as local terrorists fired rifles at a military outpost in Datu Salibo, Maguindanao del Sur lateThursday.

Col. Oriel Pangcog, commander of the Army’s 601st Infantry Brigade, identified the fatality as Cpl. Allan Balena.

Army seized BIFF’s bombs, guns in Maguindanao

CAMPS SIONGCO, Maguindanao  – Acting on a tip from civilians, government forces in Maguindanao have recovered Monday improvised explosive devices and firearms kept in an abandoned safe house in the Liguasan marshland.

On Tuesday, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Glenn Manansala, commander of the 6th Infantry “Redskin” Battalion, said the explosives and firearms were owned by Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF), a local terrorist groups allied with ISIS.
