TACURONG CITY - The 20,000 egrets and heron in Baras Bird
Sanctuary greeted at least 500 local tourists from all over the region during
Tacurong City’s 1st Bird Festival on May 9-10, 2015.

Tacurong City Bird Festival was the third
local bird festival that sprung from the Philippine Bird Festival of the Wild
Bird Club of the Philippines or WBCP. First was in Balanga in Bataan and the
second was in Zamboanga City.

MLANG, North Cotabato -—A Moro farmer accidentally found two eaglets in a remote village here while he was on his way to the Liguasan Marsh area to fish. Abdul Balono, a farmer of Barangay Dugong, a Moro dominated village in Mlang,said at first he heard chirping of birds in a nearby bushy area of the marsh. Out of his curiosity, he proceeded to the place and was surprised to findbirds trapped in a bush and as if they were looking for their mother. Basa man na sila sang nakit-an ko,”(They were wet when I saw them), Balono said.

COTABATO CITY - The search is on for this year's Mutya ng Cotabato as the city prepares for its foundation anniversary next month.Girlie Frondoza, city tourism officer, said eight aspirants will vie fot this year's top crown and become the ambassadress of the city.Frondoza told DXMS Radyo Bida interested candidates may visit the Cotabato City tourism office for screening and interviews on May 8 at 2 p.m.Application forms are available in the same office.

COTABATO CITY -- Close to 70 foreign and Filipino pilos have registered for the Paragliding Accuracy World Cup in Maasim, Saranggani, the Department of Tourism 12 announced today. Nelly Nita Dillera, DOT-12 regional director, said the paragliding event will take place from March 27 to 29. This is actually the Philippine leg of the up coming Paragliding Accuracy World Cup 2015, Dillera said in a statement. The next leg will be held in Malaysia, Serbia, Germany, China and Bulgaria, she added.

KIDAPAWAN CITY
-- The Kidapawan City tourism office has stopped accepting registrants for the
April Mt. Apo summer climb due to drought, officials said today.

Bad news” for
mountain climbers who wanted to conquer the highest peak this summer after the
Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) has recommended the temporarily
suspension of the summer climb.

However, those
who have already listed up may continue with the climb with very strict
regulations to follow, according to Joey Recemilla, Kidapawan City
tourism chief.
