GEN. SANTOS
CITY –An armed suspected drug dealer was killed when he resisted
arrest during anti-drug operation here on Saturday while another was arrested
in separate operation, police said Sunday.
Chief Supt.
Marcelo Morales, police director for Region 12, said Crispio Liquit resisted
arrest by firing at lawmen using his cal. 357 magnum pistol in Barangay
Dadiangas South.
Morales said
eight sachets of shabu and a pistol with ammunition were seized from Liquit who
was to be arrested based on a search warrant issued by a local court.
The police
returned fire as soon as Liquit fired his gun and was injured. Lawmen rushed him to the hospital but he died
later.
It is our
goal to apprehend illegal drug suspects or criminals and it is our joy to have
at least arrested one of them in every operation, Morales said in a statement Sunday.
However we
regret to say that there was reported dead suspect, so we keep on reminding
those individuals not to resist arrest and for those who are still doing
illegal drug activities to stop and help the government to cleanse the city, he
added.
In separate
law enforcement operation, police arrested
Figuracion
Dayupay alias Boyet in his house at Purok Tinago, Barangay Dadiangas South,
General Santos City for possession of illegal drugs.
Seized from were
a hand grenade, three sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Morales said Liquit
and Dayupay were in the PRRD Narco List categorized as a Level 1 High Value
Targets. Charges are being prepared against Dayupay. (Edwin O. Fernandez)
