2 killed in latest Marawi gun attack

LANAO DEL SUR --- Gunmen shot dead two persons and wounded another in a daring attack in Marawi City on Thursday morning.

Col. Madzgani Mukaram, police director of Lanao del Sur, identified the fatalities as Jorge Butad and Arturo Macasero, who died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

Their companion, Dave Mursua, who was wounded in the incident, was rushed by responding barangay folk to the Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi City for treatment.

All three of them are residents of Matungao in Lanao del Norte province, according to responding police probers.

The victims were together on a motorcycle en route to somewhere in Barangay Emmie Punud in Marawi City when their attackers flagged them down and shot them with pistols.

Mukaram said the suspects escaped towards the direction of Lanao del Sur’s nearby Saguiaran town using a motorcycle.

Personnel of the Marawi City police are still trying to identify the culprits and their real motive for the attack.
