Holiday is August 12 but Eid'l Adha for Muslims is August 11

COTABATO CITY --- Muslims in Southern Philippines will celebrate on Sunday, August 11, the Eid’l Adha, ahead of the August 12 holiday Malacañang declared.

Residents of Isabela City in Basilan will hold their open-field Eid’l Adha congregational prayer rite at the parade ground in the Basilan National High School on August 11 as agreed by Islamic theologians and clerics overseeing mosques in the city and in towns nearby.

Bangsamoro government provides relief assistance to disaster-affected areas in Maguindanao

COTABATO CITY  - The Bangsamoro government has provided relief assistance to the thousands of families affected  in the ongoing clash between the military and lawless elements and the effects of tropical storm 'Hanna' in Maguindanao. 
 

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, minister of interior and local government and head of the region's Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READI), said they distributed about 1,453 relief packs to affected families in Datu Salibo on August 3.
 

Malaysians, BARMM execs discuss trade ventures

COTABATO CITY -- Malaysian diplomats and Bangsamoro officials met here Monday to discuss possible trading ventures among Malaysians and the local business communities.

The meeting between members of the Malaysian diplomatic corps and Chief Minister Hadji Ahod Ebrahim of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao was held at the BARMM capitol in this city.

BME to boost Islamic studies in BARMM

COTABATO CITY  -- To strengthen the Madaris education in the region, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao - Bureau of Madaris Education (BARMM-BME) held an orientation for principals (Mudara) of traditional Madaris, education officials said today.

Madaris (plural Madrasah) refers to Muslim private school with core emphasis on Islamic studies and Arabic literacy.  It is the oldest educational institution in Mindanao and is recognized to be the single most important factor in the preservation of the Islamic faith and culture in the Philippines.

OCD-BARMM holds 21st Gawad KALASAG regional awarding

COTABATO CITY  – Various local government units from across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao received recognition for their outstanding contributions to disaster risk reduction and management during the 21st Gawad KALASAG regional awarding ceremony conducted by the region’s Office of the Civil Defense (OCD-BARMM) on August 2.

BARMM launches new emergency response office

COTABATO CITY  — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Regional Government launched a new emergency and disaster response office - the Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (RAPID-BARMM) on Wednesday, July 31, in Cotabato City.

The launching took place during the first organization meeting of the BARMM - Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (BDRRMC) following the release of the Executive Order No. 12 signed by BARMM Interim Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim on July 29, 2019.

BARMM prepares for disaster, holds earthquake drill

COTABATO CITY -- In line with the observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM), the Bangsamoro Autonomous Regional Government conducted an earthquake drill and simulation on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 inside the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) Compound in Cotabato City. 

With the theme, “Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago," the NDRM celebration is spearheaded by the Bangsamoro Government through its Humanitarian Emergency Action Response Team (HEART). 

BARMM holds 1st Bangsamoro Budget Forum

COTABATO CITY — In a bid to lay down guidelines, priorities, policies, and budget preparation forms for fiscal year 2020, the Ministry of Finance and Budget and Management held its 1st Bangsamoro Budget Forum on Monday, July 29.
 
Minister Eduard Guerra of MFBM-BARMM said the Bangsamoro budget process is responsive to the systems, mechanisms, and strategic implementation of priority programs established during the transition period.
 
"We need concrete plans of our budget proposal for the year 2020," Minister Guerra noted.
 

New BARMM transportation minister warns corrupt agency execs, staff

COTABATO CITY  – The minister of transportation and communication in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) on Friday warned his subordinates that corruption has no place in the region’s telecommunication and transportation regional ministry.

After he took his oath of office to BARMM chief Minister Murad Ebrahim, Minister Dickson Hermoso warned corrupt workers in government that he will not tolerate it.

BARMM launches 'Oplan sa Kalusugan' program

UPI, Maguindanao - To ensure the health and nutrition of every student in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, the Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education officially launched the Oplan Kalusugan (OK sa DepEd) program on Thursday morning, July 25.
 
The 'OK sa DepEd' is a convergence of DepEd's health programs, plans, policies, and activities for their effective and efficient implementation at the school level.
