KIDAPAWAN CITY – Officials of Cebu City government took time out and flew here Monday to extend aid to earthquake victims in this city and in North Cotabato.

Headed by Mayor Edgardo Labella, the Sugbo government officials that included City Councilors Niña Mabatid, Dave Tumulak and Don-Don Hontiveros, Cebu City Division on the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP) team, Atty. Floro Casas, Atty. Jose Daluz and Atty. Castillo brought tons of goods to the people who are most affected in Tulunan and Makilala North Cotabato.

"Nanghinaot mi, mag ampo ta sa labaw'ng makagagahom na human na unta to, dili na unta magsige pa ug lihok ang yuta para makapadayon na ta, unya makabangon ta, sa mga taga Cotabato labi na dinhi sa Makilala (We hope, we must pray to God Almighty that the ground will cease from shaking so we can move on, rise up again people of Cotabato, especially Makilala," said Mayor Labella who led the Cebu Tabang Mindanao team.

The team from Cebu City LGU first went to Tulunan where it distributed gallons of water, tents, hygiene kits, toothbrush, soaps, mosquito nets and medicine, the most needed in the evacuation sites.

After Tulunan, the group proceeded to Makilala, the hardest hit among localities due to landslides and ground fissures.

The number of displaced families was also higher in Makilala as compared to other towns.

Obviously, the people of North Cotabato were so grateful for the Cebu City officials who travelled all the way from Visayas just to make life among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at least bearable.
