Ex-president FVR laid to rest at Libingan ng mga Bayani

MANILA – Former president Fidel V. Ramos' cremated remains were inurned at the Libingan ng mga Bayani (LNMB) in Taguig City on Tuesday morning.

Ramos, the country's 12th president who served from 1992 to 1998, was accorded a state funeral with full military honors.

A private Mass was held at the Heritage Park in Taguig City before Ramos' inurnment at the LNMB.

There was also a funeral procession to the presidential grave site. Flowers were dropped during the funeral procession.

Magnitude 5.6 quake rocks mainland Mindanao

COTABATO CITY – A magnitude 5.8 earthquake rocks mainland Mindanao Tuesday tha revived the horrors of August 1976 tremor that hit the region.

The Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the tremor that came at 1:24 p.m. was tectonic in origin and the epicenter was located 36 kilometers wet of Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.

It was generated by the Cotabato trench, the Phivolcs Cotabato said in a statement.

FVR dies at 94

MANILA – Former president Fidel V. Ramos has died at the age of 94.

Ramos’ family has yet to release a statement as of posting time.

The Office of the Press Secretary expressed condolences to the family of Ramos, the country’s 12 Chief Executive from 1992 to 1998.

Police destroy 3-hectare Lanao del Sur marijuana farm

COTABATO CITY - Authorities destroyed three hectares of Marijuana plants in Maguing town in Lanao del Sur Thursday.

Col. Jibin Boncayao, Lanao del Sur provincial police director, said Friday their anti-narcotics agents placed at no less than P12 million the value of the marijuana shrubs in a three-hectare farm in Barangay Bato-Bato, Maguing that police personnel uprooted and burned.

The raiding team also found five assault rifles in an abandoned makeshift outpost close to the marijuana farm.
