Diabetes, hypertension patients get aid from ARMM

COTABATO CITY– Residents in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) suffering from diabetes and hypertension are thankful after receiving free maintenance medicines from the region’s Department of Health (DOH-ARMM). The distribution of free medicines in the region started this month.Joery Amad, regional diabetes educator, said the medicines will help combat diabetes and hypertension – two interrelated conditions – and the complications brought about by these two illnesses.

PhilHealth extends indigents/sponsored program coverage

CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has announced
that all indigents under various organizations and beneficiaries of government
programs, including groups who have sponsors are automatically entitled to avail

Injuries related to firecrackers reach 148 --DOH

MANILA -- The number of firecracker-related injuries reached 148 as of Dec. 30, the ninth day of the Department of Health's (DOH) Iwas-Paputok Injury Reduction campaign.So far, no additional case of stray bullets has been recorded and fireworks ingestion is still in zero level based on the reports submitted by DOH’s sentinel hospitals. The 148 cases recorded so far was 68 cases or 31 percent lower than the five-year (2010-2014) average and 28 cases or 16 percent lower than the same period last year,” said DOH spokesperson Dr.

North Cotabato gov't honors BHWs as health front liners

Cotabato provincial health office on Monday recognized the health front liners
for a job well done” in the government’s basic health services down to the
farthest communities.

About 2,700 Barangay Health Workers (BHWs)
gathered at the provincial capitol gym, in Barangay Amas, Kidapawan City for
the 25th BHW Provincial Congress.The BHWs are volunteer health workers in

COTABATO CITY -- For public's safety, the city government here has intensified sanitary inspection of food outlets and carenderia, warning food handlers of closure if business and sanitarypermits are not secured.Aniceto Rasalan, secretary to Mayor Japal Guiani Jr, said food centers without sanitary permits issued by the City Health Office may be shut down after due notice.Rasalan said these food areas have been given notices to secure sanitary clearance from the city health.
