COTABATO CITY -- Health authorities in North
Cotabato have intensified campaign against cases of dengue as it noted rising
cases this year. Dr. Eva Rabaya, North Cotabato provincial health
chief, said from January to August 15 this year, the Integrated Provincial
Health Office (IPHO) recorded seven death in at least four towns.

This year, Rabaya said, the Provincial Epidemiology
and Surveillance Unit (PESU), listed 1,545 dengue cases which is 92 percent
higher as compared to the same period last year.

KIDAPAWAN CITY - A four-year old boy died while his parents and other siblings landed in ahospital after eating cassava served during dinner in remote village in Pikit, North Cotabato on Wednesday evening, officials said. Muslima La, a midwife of Cruzado Clinic where the victims are being treated, identified the fatality as Mama Payag who died due to dehydration and severe stomach ache. The boy parents, identified as Edris and Tingga Payag and their three children Alibai, 4 Asarapia,6 and Ali, 8 all residents of Barangay Gli-gli, Pikit town.

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Health officials in Mlang, North Cotabato believed a China-made insecticide triggered the illness a couple had experience that landed them in the hospital.Dr. Jun Sotea,Mlang Municipal Health Officer, told DXND Radyo Bida thatthe couple, Pet and Manuel Mindarus, bought the aerosol spray and used it for their room when they started complaining ofnausea and abdominal disorder.Sotea said after learning of the incident, he ordered an investigation.
