Religious leaders aid PRO-BARMM internal cleansing

COTABATO CITY – The cleansing program of the Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) has earned the support of major stakeholders in the region – the religious leaders.

On Sunday, Police Brigadier General Marni Marcos Jr, PRO-BAR regional director, said he was elated that priests, imams (Muslim preacher) and pastors of no specific sect have helped the “Squad and Values Life Coach System” of the Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.

16 NPAs in Palimbang surrender to 603rd Brigade

SULTAN KUDARAT - Sixteen members of the New People’s Army on Saturday pledged allegiance to the Philippine flag through the efforts of the Army’s 603rd Brigade.

The 16 NPAs first yielded assorted firearms and components of improvised explosive devices to officials of the 37th Infantry Battalion who fetched them before the weekend from their hideouts at forested hinterlands in Palimbang town in Sultan Kudarat.

The local government unit of Palimbang has promised to extend relief and rehabilitation support to the 16 former NPAs.

WestMinCom ships relief supplies for Jolo fire victims 

COTABATO CITY --- Units under the Western Mindanao Command facilitated the other day the shipment to Jolo of relief supplies for 2,800 residents whose houses were razed by fire the day before.

Jolo is the capital town of Sulu, a component-province of the Bangsamoro region. 

16 more ISIS-inspired terrorists surrender

COTABATO CITY --- Sixteen members of the outlawed Dawlah Islamiya surrendered to the Army’s 6th Infantry Division on Saturday.

The 16 gunmen yielded through the efforts of municipal officials in Maguindanao province and the Army’s 33rd and 40th Infantry Battalions, both component-units of the Army’s 601st Brigade under 6th ID.

Gen. Carreon, Gov. Mangudadatu vow to work together for peace of Maguindanao

The two had a dialogue about the future plans for the development and security measures within the Province of Maguindanao for the year 2020. After the meaningful dialogue, Gov. Mangudadatu received a simple token from JTFC Commander as a sign of appreciation.

The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) will host a Peace Partners Caucus next month in Davao City to present possible areas of involvement by the private sector to sustain the peace gains made by the administration of President Rody Duterte.

New 602nd Brigade chief vows intensified drive vs. terrorists

CAMP LUCERO, North Cotabato – A seasoned military officer from the office of Department of National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana has assumed as head of the Army’s 602nd Infantry Brigade (Bde) in Carmen, North Cotabato on Wednesday,  promising to sustain the government’s campaign against local terrorists and communist rebels.

Brig. Gen. Roberto Capulong, the new 602Bde chief, said he would also push forward the government’s peace initiatives in conflict-affected communities of the brigade’s area of responsibility.

Hometown of slain Abu Sayaf chieftain now peaceful

COTABATO CITY --- Despite the fragile peace now in areas under their jurisdiction, police personnel in Lantawan municipality in Basilan are still not taking chances.

Lantawan is the hometown of terrorist Isnilon Hapilon, the “emir,” or grand leader of the Abu Sayyaf, who was killed by soldiers during their five-month siege of Marawi City in 2017.

Ateneo de Davao pledges support for MinDA Tienda

DAVAO CITY - Officials and students of the Ateneo de Davao University have pledged to support the agency's programs to address poverty, improve productivity and achieve lasting peace in Mindanao, including the institutionalisation of the MinDA Tienda.

AdDU President Fr. Joel Tabora SJ made the commitment of support in research and field works shortly after I presented to a group of Ateneo students the various advocacies and programs of MinDA during a forum Friday, Nov. 29 at the AdDU.
