Coco harvester falls from tall palm tree, dead

KORONADAL CITY --- A 46-year old ethnic Blaan farmer died instantly when he slipped and fell while harvesting coconuts from a tall palm tree in Malapatan town in Sarangani Tuesday.

In a report on Wednesday to Col. Deanry Francisco, director of the Sarangani provincial police, the Malapatan Municipal Police Station said Simo Alaba Anabon immediately died from injuries he sustained from his accidental fall from a coconut tree, about 50 feet tall.

Power relay tower toppled down with IEDs

COTABATO CITY - Suspected members of the Dawlah Islamiya toppled down a steel power relay tower in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte before dawn Friday, causing power outage in a number of towns in the province.

In a report on Saturday to the Lanao del Norte Provincial Police Office, Major Mark Capitle of the Kauswagan Municipal Police Station, said residents of Barangay Paiton first heard two explosions preceding the total loss of electricity in their houses.

Reelectionist barangay chairman, brother killed in Zambo attack, cops arrest suspect

COTABATO CITY --- A Tausug barangay chairman aspiring for a third term and his brother were killed while two others were hurt in a daring attack in Zamboanga City at about dusk Sunday.

Col. Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City police director, on Monday said Jul-Asmad Mawajil Anjawang, a reelectionist chairman of Barangay Pamansaan in Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay, and his brother, Jamar Mawajil Anjawang, both succumbed to bullet wounds in a hospital where emergency responders rushed them for treatment.

Cops kill GenSan robbery gang leader

GEN. SANTOS CITY - Policemen shot dead last weekend a leader of robbery gang here for provoking a gunfight when they tried to serve him an arrest warrant and search his hideout for stolen items and narcotics.

Col. Nicomedes Olaivar Jr., General Santos City Police director, said the slain Alfie Alferes was one of two men who robbed on August 9 the Coco Gadget Hub in Barangay City Heights.

They took away mobile phones and other electronic devices as they escaped.

Motorcycle-riding cop dead in Lanao del Norte road mishap

COTABATO CITY --- A motorcycle-riding policeman died instantly after hitting a dump truck parked along an unlit stretch of a highway in an interior barangay in Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte before dawn Sunday.

Col. Sandy S. Vales, Lanao del Norte provincial police director, said Monday the fatality, Patrolman Jhon Ryan Guardaquivil Baylan, belonged to the 1005th Mobile Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion under the Police Regional Office-10.

P1.3M-worth shabu seized in Zamboanga Sur police operation

COTABATO CITY – The police seized P1.3 million worth of shabu from an alleged dealer who fell in a sting in Dumalinao town in Zamboanga del Sur over the weekend.

The 20-year-old suspect, Nashrodin Ploma Pido, is now locked in a detention facility of the Dumalinao Police Station, to be prosecuted for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

2 in gang behind deadly Basilan ambush now detained

COTABATO CITY - Two of the gunmen behind Saturday’s ambush in Ungkaya Pukan that left a soldier and a policeman dead had surrendered and confessed to their involvement in the atrocity.

Tornado destroy 30 houses in seaside Zamboanga City village

COTABATO CITY - A tornado from the sea ripped and blew away the roof of 30 houses in the coastal Barangay Sinunuc in Zamboanga City on Wednesday.

In separate reports Thursday, the office of Mayor John M. Dalipe and the Zamboanga City Police Office said emergency responders were immediately dispatched to extend relief interventions to 32 affected families.

P13-M worth shabu seized in Sulu entrapment operation

COTABATO CITY - Anti-narcotics agents seized P13 million worth of shabu from two alleged dealers, one of them a former member of the Moro National Liberation Front, entrapped Maimbung, Sulu Wednesday.

Christian Frivaldo, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 12, told reporters Thursday the duo, Janang Bairulla, 43, and the 31-year-old Anton Jubail, both Tausugs, fell in a sting in the town proper of Maimbung, laid with the help of the police.

BARMM, Basilan governor embark on housing for ex-Abu terrorists

COTABATO CITY - The Bangsamoro government and the office of the governor of Basilan are to initially construct 39 houses for reforming former members of the Abu Sayyaf terror group who are now being reintroduced to mainstream society.

Basilan Gov. Jim Hataman Salliman said Monday he and Bangsamoro Local Government Minister Naguib Gani Sinarimbo signed last Friday a memorandum of agreement (MOA) binding their offices to cooperate in implementing the housing project in the province.

“We are now in the process of choosing a site for this housing project,” Salliman said.
