Lamitan City progressing says mayor in state-of-city report 

COTABATO CITY - The Lamitan City government is confident it can achieve its 2022-2005 peace, security and economic goals with the support of its Muslim and Christian constituents, the city’s chief executive stated in a symbolic state-of-the city report (SOCR) Monday.

Mayor Roderick Furigay, elected as Lamitan City mayor during the May 9, 2022 elections, said in his SOCR that there have been considerable improvements in the local investment climate, based on increase in applications for business licenses and entry of investors from outside.

NPA political instructor, intel yields to Army in GenSan

CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao Norte – A political instructor of communist movement in South Cotabato have voluntarily surrendered to military authorities in Gen. Santos City following through the Localized Engagement Program of South Cotabato.

Colonel Ruben Aquino, commander of Joint Task Force GenSan, said aside from political instruction, “Alias Akai” is also an intelligence officer and media liaison officer of Guerilla Front Musa.

PDEA-12 now prosecuting 3 detained shabu dealers

GENERAL SANTOS CITY ----The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 is now prosecuting for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 three alleged drug dealers, among them a female criminology student, busted in separate entrapment operations.

Aileen Lovitos, director of PDEA-12, confirmed to reporters Thursday that they have filed corresponding cases against Bob Karlo Wahab Sumaid, 21, and his accomplice, Mary Decial Abapo, 20, and the 22-year-old Erwin Cordova Gallego, now detained, awaiting court proceedings.

13 kilos marijuana seized from slain Tawi-Tawi dealer

COTABATO CITY - State agents seized 13 kilos of dried marijuana leaves from an alleged dealer killed in an entrapment operation Thursday in Barangay Panyungan in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.

Brig. Gen. Allan C. Nobleza, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, told reporters Sunday the suspect resisted arrest, pulled out a .38 caliber revolver and opened fire at non-uniformed anti-narcotics agents who were to arrest him after selling 13 kilos of marijuana to one of them.

2 Abu Sayyaf dead in Basilan clash

COTABATO CITY - Soldiers shot dead two members of the Abu Sayyaf in a brief clash in a secluded barangay in Sumisip town in Basilan Tuesday.

Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, commander of the military’s Western Mindanao Command and Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, had separately confirmed the incident to reporters Wednesday and assured Basilan residents that their units in the province are guarding against retaliations by the group.

4 dead as container van falls on dump truck in Lanao del Norte

COTABATO CITY --- Four hitchhikers were killed on the spot when a container van, dislodged from an over speeding trailer truck, landed on a dump truck in Sultan Naga Dimaporo town in Lanao del Norte Sunday.

Captain Christian Patayon, acting chief of the Sultan Naga Dimaporo municipal police, identified the fatalities as Robinson Canoos, 51, his 10-year-old son Jussin, Rusita Becoy, 60, and the 50-year-old Samuel Ceniza.

Villager dead, 4 hurt in Lamitan gun attack

COTABATO CITY --- A guest in a traditional Yakan child baptismal rite was killed while five others, four of them minors, were badly hurt in a gun attack late Friday in an interior barangay in Lamitan City in Basilan.

Brig. Gen. Alex Nobleza, director of the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, identified the fatality as Amilhassan Asbito, 56, a resident of Sitio Puno Ubag in Barangay Badjah in nearby Tipo-Tipo, Basilan.

29, 314 board feet of lumber seized in two Caraga provinces

COTABATO CITY - The police seized 29, 314 board feet of lumbers in separate police anti-illegal logging operations in the past six days in two provinces in the Caraga region.

Brig. Gen. Pablo Labra, director of the Police Regional Office-13, told reporters Wednesday that the confiscation of the illegal forest products was done with the help of personnel of the Caraga regional office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

GenSan market stalls shut for selling tuna with pig's blood

GENERAL SANTOS CITY - The local government unit here had shut four vending stalls in a market whose owners sold cuts of tuna smeared with blood of pigs to look fresh.

In a statement Saturday, the General Santos City government confirmed that its law-enforcement personnel and officials of a local market vendors’ association together ordered the four stall owners to stop operating pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings against them.

Tawi-Tawi drug peddler falls

CAMP SK PENDATUN, Maguindanao Norte - Joint forces of the Tawi-Tawi PNP, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Philippine Marines arrested a drug peddler in Bongao town and seized from him P136,00 worth of shabu and paraphernalia during buy bust operation Thursday.

The suspect was identified as Malik Kalbi, a resident of Bongao and region's Top 10 wanted drug personality.
