KIDAPAWAN CITY - Four birds of the Philippine Trogon (Harpactes ardens), a bird species associated with the mythical Ibong Adarna, were documented within the confines of the Mt. Apo Natural Park (MANP) during the recent Biodiversity Monitoring System (BMS) activity.

This sighting marks the second encounter with the species, following its initial discovery during the BMS in 2023.

The Philippine Trogon, locally known as Arak by the Obo Monuvu people of Mt. Apo, is the sole species of trogon endemic to the Philippines.

COTABATO CITY - IDINEKLARA na ang State of Calamity sa buong Bangsamoro Region batay sa inilabas na Proclamation No. 002 s. 2024 ng Office of the Chief Minister nitong April 29 dahil sa matinding epekto ng El Niño.

Sa ilalim ng deklarasyon, bibigyan ng karampatang tulong ang mga apektadong komunidad at papabilisin ang mga gagawing interbensiyon kabilang ang response operations at recovery efforts ng regional government.

Binigyang diin ng regional government na magkakaroon ng prize freeze sa mga basic goods and commodities sa mga apektadong lugar sa BARMM.

KORONADAL CITY - A Philippine Palm Civet Cat (Paradoxurus philippensis) locally known as “Milo” and a Philippine deer (Rusa Marianna) were surrendered by concerned residents from Sitio Pulang Lupa, Brgy. Taconel, and Brgy. Bacdulong, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)-Lake Sebu, on April 23, which were later turned over on the next day, Wednesday to the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Banga.

KIAMBA, Sarangani Province – A total of 300 native tree seedlings were planted on Monday, April 22, by the DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Kiamba and its partners to kick off the establishment of a two-hectare tree park in this town.

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat - Gov. Datu Pax Ali Mangudadatu has placed the entire province of Sujltan Kudarat under state of calamity due to El Niño that devastated the province's agriculture sector.

Nilagdaan ni Mangudadatu ipinasang Resolution 136 na pinagtibay ng Sangguniang Panlalawigan na naglalagay sa buong lalawigan under state of calamity upang magamit ang 5 percent calamity fund ng lalawigan.

Hindi naman sinabi sa resolution kung gaano kalawak at magkarno ang pinsalang dulot ng El Nino sa agrikultura at kung ilang mga magsasaka ang apektado. 

COTABATO CITY - The Sangguniang Panlalawigan in Basilan placed the entire province under a state of calamity in a session on Wednesday due to the devastating effects of the now two-month drought in the province spawned by the El-Niño phenomenon.

Basilan Gov. Hadjiman Salliman and Vice Gov. Yusop Alano separately confirmed to reporters on Wednesday the SP's had placed the entire province under a state of calamity during a session where provincial lawmakers discussed the immediate need for it, based on multi-sector recommendations.

Idineklara na ang state of calamity sa bayan ng Surallah, South Cotabato.

Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng resolusyon na inaprubahan ng Sangguniang Bayan.

Layon nito na magamit ang quick response fund ng lokal na pamahalaan na pantulong sa mga mamamayan na apektado ng El Nino Phenomenon.

Ayon sa SP abot na sa higit P71 million pesos ang danyos ng El Nino sa mga pananim at palaisdaan sa Surallah.

Nakaapekto naman ito sa 1,178 na mga magsasaka at mangingisda.

KORONADAL CITY - An adult plumage Gray-faced Buzzard that was rescued recently by a fisher folk has returned to its natural habitat after it was freed on March 19, by the personnel from DENR Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Kiamba.

CENR Officer Felix Robles said that the migratory raptor was turned over to his office by a concerned citizen of Barangay Lomuyon, Kiamba, Sarangani Province, after a fisherman found it floating in the sea.

Batay sa Forecast Heat Index ng Bangsamoro READi posibleng pumalo ng hanggang 41 degree celsius ang init ng panahon ngayong araw hanggang bukas na posibleng umabot sa 40 degree celsius.

Kaugnay nito, pinapayuhan ang lahat na maging mas maingat sa mga banta na dala ng di-pangkraniwang init ng temperatura tulad ng pagkahilo at heat stroke.

MANILA – Task Force El Niño on Wednesday warned that about 80 provinces may experience the adverse effects of the weather phenomenon, sparing only two provinces in the country.

This is as the number of provinces currently affected by El Niño has already increased to 51 from the previous 41, as of Feb. 25, Task Force El Niño spokesperson, Communications Assistant Secretary Joey Villarama, said during the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon Program aired on state-run PTV-4.
