BFP-North Cotabato records 44 fires in Q1

KIDAPAWAN CITY – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in North Cotabato reported 44 fire incidents during the first quarter of this year that damaged more than P88 million worth of properties.

Five persons were reported killed during various conflagration.

Fire Officer Samyr Mundas of BFP-North Cotabato said this year's number of fires was almost the same during the same period last year.

Mundas, speaking in behalf of BFP North Cotabato told dxND-Radyo Bida that the cost of damages was based on bureau’s initial assessment.

DSWD, UNDP complete P13-M social infra projects in Region 12

KORONADAL CITY -- The partnership of Department of Social Welfare and Development and United Nations Development Programme has completed P13. 18 million worth of infrastructure projects, helping various villagers in the region to access basic social services, an agency senior official said Tuesday.

Bonifacio V. Selma Jr., DSWD 12 assistant regional for operations said that 11 community projects have been completed including day care centers, schools, centers for children with special needs and senior citizens building.

In this regard, please be informed that the Saguing River Headwaters (Lapaan Intakes) production already reduced by 25% due to the current El Nino Phenomenon.

5 BIFF terrorists killed in military offensive in Maguindanao

MAGUINDANAO --- Five militants were killed in the continuing bombardment of the lairs of the outlawed Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in swampy areas in this province.

The air and artillery strikes by the Army’s 6th Infantry Division against BIFF bandits in Shariff Saidona Mustapha, Maguindanao began Saturday.

The operation was launched after vigilant residents, among them Moro farmers, reported to Army units in the province seeing BIFF gunmen converging in Pinditen and Inaladan areas in Shariff Saidona, located in the second district of Maguindanao.

40th day after Jolo bombings pain remains

COTABATO CITY (March 10) - Saying “pain is still deep,” Roman Catholic priest Monsignor Romeo Saniel of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), the Jolo Vicariate administrator, led on Friday the 40th day commemoration of the January 27 twin bombings of Jolo Cathedral.

With Monsignor Saniel was Fr. Jeff Nadua, OMI and the relatives and loved ones of 24 Church goers who perished in celebrating a mass and offering of flowers and prayers.

Cops kill another drug dealer linked to Maute leader

LANAO DEL SUR --- Authorities killed another large-scale drug trafficker remitting proceeds of illegal deals to the Maute terror group, the second since Wednesday.

Personnel of the Lanao del Sur provincial police were to entrap on Friday the 28-year-old Caharodin Abocadama in Barangay Banday, Malabang but killed him instead when he resisted, pulled out a gun and opened fire.
