Soc Pinol first to pull down campaign posters in N. Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Vice gubernatorial hopeful Socrates Pinol today made good his promise to personally help clear the province of his campaign posters after election and started removing them Tuesday.

Pinol who failed in his first try at the second highest post of the province said he will continue serving the people in whatever way he can as a civilian after his term as provincial board member ends on June 30 this year.

Twin blasts rock Cotabato City anew

COTABATO CITY – Two explosions rocked this city at past 10 p.m. today in a spot where two rifle grenades exploded on Sunday night, police said.

No casualty was reported and police and Army bomb experts are still in the area conducting post blast investigation.

The explosions occurred at the back of Cotabato City hall compound in exactly the same area where two rifle grenades, fired from a distance, landed and exploded at about the same time Sunday night.

2 men with hand grenade nabbed in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat on poll day

ESPERANZA, Sultan Kudarat (May 13) -- Police and military authorities arrested two persons at a police and Army checkpoints for possession of a hand grenade.

Reports from Sultan Kudarat police provincial office arrested about 8 a.m. two men on board a motorbike later identified as Edwin Panaligan and Ronny Magtulis.

The two failed to show motor vehicle registration records and when checked a hand grenade was found inside the motorbike's u-box.

4 VCM di gumana sa Magpet, North Cotabato

KIDAPAWAN CITY - Pumalya at hindi gumana ngayong hapon ang apat na mga Vote Counting Machine (VCM) sa apat na barangay sa Bayan ng Magpet North Cotabato.

Nitong hapon sabay sabay na hindi gumana ang mga VCM sa barangay ng Basak, Imamaling, balite at Manonisa.

Ayon kay Magpet election officer Diosdado Javier, pahirapan umano ang signal sa naturang mga barangay dahilan para mahirapan din sila sa pag update kung may mga pumalyang VCM.

Ang iba umano ay kinailangan pang bumaba ng barangay Poblacion para makapag padala ng resulta.

Treasurer carrying P6-M, driver survive Maguindanao ambush

COTABATO CITY – A town treasurer of Maguindanao transporting P6 million cash and her driver survived an ambush in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao Saturday morning.

Colonel Ronald Briones, Maguindanao police director, said the ambush occurred at 8:30 a.m. along the national highway in Barangay Taviran, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

"Vote-buyers" arrested in Mlang, North Cotabato

MLANG, North Cotabato -- Four persons were arrested by police for violation of election laws after they were caught in possession of more than P200,000 cash and campaign materials for gubernatorial candidate Roger Talinio and vice gubernatorial candidate Emmylou Talinio Mendoza.

Two of the four persons were lay leaders of Catholic Church or "Kaabags."

They were allegedly involved in vote buying activities in Barangay New Kalibo, Mlang, North Cotabato on Friday night.
