85 homes destroyed by strong winds, heavy downpour on Maundy Thursday in Kabacan

COTABATO CITY – Heavy downpour and strong winds that battered Kabacan town in Cotabato province amid excruciating heat on Maundy Thursday have left 85 homes destroyed, the local disaster office said today.

Municipal Mayor Evangeline Pascua-Guzman who also chairs the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC), said four villages were hardly hit by the heavy downpour and what locals believed was mild tornado at started at about 3 p.m.

Of the 28 affected homes 28 were totally destroyed and 57 were partially damaged.

Winds destroy houses in Magsur, NoCot

COTABATO CITY --- Some 40 houses were destroyed by strong winds that pummeled lowlands in the adjoining towns of Montawal, Maguindanao del Sur and Kabacan, North Cotabato amid heavy rains on Thursday afternoon.

Personnel of the Kabacan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office were immediately deployed in affected areas to relocate affected villagers to evacuation sites, local officials told reporters on Friday.

COTABATO CITY - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangamoro Region and police units in the city conducted on Tuesday "Oplan Harabas" in a bid to help ensure safety of commuters this holy week season.

The endeavor aims to ensure the riding public’s safety and security while traveling by making sure that no driver or dispatcher is under the influence of dangerous drugs.

Drug tests were made on the drivers, conductors and dispatchers of major terminals: Mindanao Star Bus Terminal; Husky Bus Terminal; Kutoco Van Terminal; and, A to Z Van Terminal.

On behalf of Police Regional Office 12, PBGEN PERCIVAL AUGUSTUS P PLACER, Regional Director expressed his sympathy to the grieving family and friends of the victims of vehicular accident transpired along National Highway, Purok 2, Barangay Luhong, Antipas, Cotabato on March 25, 2024.

The traffic investigator of Antipas Municipal Police Station revealed that a HOWO ten-wheeler dump truck traveling from Antipas, Cotabato, towards Kidapawan City experienced a brake system malfunction, leading to a collision with a white Toyota utility vehicle.

Kaanak ng mga nasawi sa Antipas highway mishap, nagsindi ng kandila sa crash site

ANTIPAS, North Cotabato - Binisita ng mga kaanak at kaibigan ng 17 mga nasawi ang lugar kung saan nangyari ang highway accident noong lunes ng tanghali sa Barangay Luhong.

Nagsindi rin sila ng kandila di kalayuan sa nasunog na passenger van at nag-alay ng panalangin.

Kasama nila ang mga kawani ng Antipas local government unit sa pangunguna ni Mayor Cris Cadungon.

Namigay din ang LGU ng cash assistance sa pamilya ng mga nasawi. 

Nagsorry na din ang driver ng HOWO truck na si Edwin Nasiad.  Aniya hindi niya sinadya ang pangyayari at ito ay talagang aksidente.
