Pigcawayan tarsier, ibinalik na sa kanyang natural habitat

AGAD PINAKAWALAN alas 10:30 ng umaga kanina ang isang tarsier na natagpuan ng ilang residente sa Sitio Tungano, Barangay Renibon Pigcawayan, North Cotabato.

Pormal itong itinurn-over ni Jake Demetillo sa Municipal Environment and Resources Office o MENRO-Pigcawayan.

Sinabi sa Radyo Bida ni Demetillo, gabi nitong Feb. 17 ay hinabol ng kanilang aso ang tarsier kaya't kanya itong iniligtas.

Sa panayam ng Radyo Bida kay MENRO head Joaquin Tacula, sinabi nitong walang sugat at nasa mabuting kondisyon ang tarsier kaya't kaagad nila itong pinakawalan.

COTABATO CITY  – Two wounded sea mammals were safety returned to their natural habitat after environmentalists treated them of their injuries, officials said.

In a statement on Friday, Forester Iskak Dipatuan of Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), said the two “Bottlenose Dolphin” (Tursiops truncatus) ran aground along the coast of Barangay Poral in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

MENRE distributes land titles, seedlings, ECC on BARMM anniv

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy (MENRE) distributed Tuesday, Jan. 18, a total of 18 land titles, 60 seedlings, and an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) to its clients and partners as part of the celebration of the Bangsamoro region’s third founding anniversary.
 

2 minors perish, thousands displaced by Central Mindanao floods

PIKIT, North Cotabato --- Two minors were drowned Thursday in floods that hit dozens of barangays along the 220,000-hectare Liguasan Delta, swelled by recurring downpours since Monday.

Thousands of residents here and in nearby Pagalungan and Montawal towns in Maguindanao, touted as the gateways to the Liguasan Delta, were forced to relocate to higher grounds as floodwaters began inundating their villages Thursday.

Sinabi ni Municipal agriculturist Tereista Bingil Testado na nagsimulang tumaas ang tubig at pumasok sa mga bahay sa gilid ng highway ilang oras makaraan ang malakas na buhos ng ulan.

Bukod sa mga bahay, napasok na rin ng tubig baha ang Catholic chapel sa Barangay Batiocan.

Whale rescued, treated in Sarangani province

KORONADAL CITY  – Environment officials today said an injured female pygmy sperm whale was rescued Monday and being treated in coast of Saranggani province.

Atty. Fellix S. Alicer, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-12) regional executive director, said the 2-meter weak and wounded whale (Kogia breviceps) was found by fishermen along the coast of Barangay Mabay, Maitum town.

“Our people in the area have been educated and trained to help and not to harm endangered species,” Director Alixer said.

DENR seizes illegally cut lumber, shuts construction of tourist spot in Tboli

KORONADAL CITY – The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 and its partners on Tuesday, September 7, have apprehended illegally-cut lumber and ceased the construction of a tourist spot project within a virgin forest in Tboli, South Cotabato due to lack of necessary documents.

DENR-12 Regional Executive Director (RED) Atty. Felix S. Alicer said that his office received a report regarding the possible illegal logging, occupation and damage to natural resources within forestland of the said town.

Ito ay ang pagbabago sa probinsyon ng ordinansa na nagbabawal ng open pit mining operation sa South Cotabato.

Sinabi ni Fadrigo na kung matutuloy kasi ang open pit mining operation sa karatig bayan ng Tampakan, maaring maapektuhan ang kanilang kabuhayan.

BARMM grants ECCs to Aboitiz firm, LGUs and other companies

COTABATO CITY  – An Aboitiz power firm, two other companies and three local government units in the Bangsamoro Region were given Environmental Compliance Certificates (ECCs).

During awarding rites Wednesday here, Environment Minister Abduraof A. Macacua awarded the ECCs to representatives of Cotabato Light and Power Company, Eka Salam Agriventures Corporation, and Delinanas Development Corporation.
