PDEA nabs Maguindanao village chair, son for shabu, gun possession

COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics agents,
backed by police and soldiers, arrested Wednesday night a Maguindanao village
chairman and his son for possession of unlicensed guns and illegal drugs.

Another man who was also armed and present when
agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (PDEA-ARMM) was also arrested, according to PDEA Director Juvenal
Azurin.

Lanao Sur exec suspends classes due to Basyang

LANAO DEL SUR -- Vice Gov. Mamintal Adiong, Jr. suspended on Tuesday classes in all towns in Lanao del Sur and in Marawi City due to heavy rains and strong winds spawned by Tropical Storm Basyang.
Adiong, in a directive issued Tuesday morning, said the suspension of classes in local elementary, high school and college institutions is meant to ensure the safety of residents from the storm, whose effects are now felt in many southern towns and provinces.

BFP-ARMM sets cool run for Fire Prevention Month

COTABATO CITY -- The Bureau of Fire Protection-Autonomous
Region in Muslim Mindanao (BFP-ARMM) will be accepting entries for its 2nd
Joint Cool Run until February 19.

This year’s edition of the Cool Run
with the theme Takbo Laban sa Sunog 2018 is set for March 10 as part of this
year’s observance of Fire Prevention Month.

According to BFP-ARMM, they set an
earlier registration period for the run to have adequate time to prepare the
items participants will receive.

Cotabato City engineering office sets 2018 projects

COTABATO CITY -- The City Engineers’
Office (CEO) here has started implementing infrastructure projects scheduled
for this year with P8-million funding from the City Government.
