5-member South Cotabato drug ring busted

POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato --- Anti-narcotics agents shut a clandestine drug den here early Saturday and clamped down the five-member gang behind its operation.

Naravy Duquiatan, director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12, said agents also seized from the suspects P35, 360 worth of shabu.

Drug den operator Mary Joy Ostaga and cohorts Jocelyn Albaño, Jojean Saul, Ariel Felisida and Ronald Lascuna are now detained.

They shall be prosecuted for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, according to Duquiatan.

34 more NPA members surrender in South Cotabato

COTABATO CITY --- Two groups of New People’s Army guerillas surrendered to the government on Saturday, the Police Regional Office-12 announced Monday. 

The PRO-12 said a total of 34 NPAs yielded in separate surrender rites in South Cotabato’s Tantangan and Norala towns. 

In a statement, the PRO-12 said the NPAs yielded through the intercession of local officials, the municipal police office and the military and members of the local task forces helping the government address communist insurgency in the provinces.

Magnitude 5.6 jolts Davao Occidental

KORONADAL CITY - A magnitude 5.6 earthquake rocked south-eastern Mindanao at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The quake which was tectonic in origin was traced 31 kilometers east of Jose Abado Santos town in Davao Occidental.

Lamsan employee shot dead in Maguindanao

SULTAN KUDARAT, Maguindanao – Unidentified gunmen riding tandem on motorbike shot dead an employee of Lamsan Trading Incorporated who was on motorbike heading for home Thursday afternoon.

Major Julhamin Asdani, Sultan Kudarat municipal police chief, said the shooting occurred at 4:45 p.m. that led to the death of Eduardo B. Ignacio, 41, a resident of Barangay Poblacion 6, Cotabato City.

Poor kids get support from Cotabato City police

COTABATO CITY --- A hundred children belonging to impoverished families benefited from a police COVID-19 quarantine outreach mission Thursday.

The activity was initiated by personnel of the Women and Children Protection Desk in the Cotabato City Police Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region under acting city police director Col. Richard Fiesta.

The humanitarian mission covered residential enclaves around the Pedro Colina Hill in Cotabato City, not too distant from the CCPO headquarters.

PH Navy foils illegal fishing activities in Tawi-Tawi

BONGAO, Tawi–Tawi -- Philippine Navy personnel aborad BRP Emilio Jacinto (PS35) foiled illegal fishing activities off Sikalong-Kalong Island, Pearl Bank, Tawi-Tawi.

PS35 while conducting maritime patrol and establishing naval presence in the area, as well as scouting of unauthorized inter-island movements, monitored three (3) fishing bancas conducting illegal fishing activities in the said vicinity.

PS35 immediately deployed its boarding team to conduct inspection and subsequent apprehension and was able to confirmed the illegal activities of the fishermen.

SANTOS CITY - Five persons were arrested in an anti-narcotic operation conducted by joint operatives of PDEA RO XII – Sarangani Provincial Office and Sultan Kudarat Provincial Office under the direct supervision and control of Director Naravy Duquiatan, together with General Santos City Police Office (GSCPO) Police Station 3 and GSCPO – Police Station 4 on March 4, 2020, 2:00 in the morning at Unit No. 4, Jessa Mae Apartment, Denoga Subdivision, Brgy. Lagao, General Santos City.

Kornadal mayor, may paliwanag sa usapin ng tricycle ban sa national highway

KORONADAL CITY - May dalawang taon pang transition period ang mga lokal na pamahalaan para paigtingin ang pagbabawal ng mga tricycle, pedicab at motorized pedicab sa mga national highway.

Ito ang paliwanag ni Koronadal Mayor Eliordo Ogena sa harap ng pangamba ng mga tricycle drivers at operators sa lungsod. Ayon kay Ogena, ang 30 days na deadline ay para lamang sa traffic route plan.

PRO-12 personnel undergo random drug testing

GENERAL SANTOS CITY --- Personnel of the Police Regional Office-12 based in General Santos City underwent drug testing Monday in keeping with efforts to rid the Philippine National Police of members addicted to shabu.

Brig. Gen. Alfred Corpus, PRO-12 director, led his subordinates in submitting to chemists urine samples be examined for presence of shabu residue.

The PRO-12 has assured the media community in Region 12 to reveal the results of the surprise drug testing soon.
